About us

D71 is a fellowship program focusing on enhancing capacity in Non Communicable Disease research among both clinicians and public health professionals of Bangladesh which is awarded by National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fogarty international Centre. This on job fellowship program will offer the candidates to get exposure in Non Communicable Disease research through practical and virtual sessions under the close guidance of national and international researchers and scientists. The project is jointly led by Dr. Aliya Naheed, Head Initiative for Non Communicable Diseases, icddr,b, and Professor Habibul Ahsan, Director for Epidemiology and prevention at University of Chicago.

AIM

Main goal:

Building research capacity of young researchers in LMIC to generate novel ideas which can be put in to be tested at post graduate research level.

Our specific aims are:

  • To strengthen the capacity of young multidisciplinary researchers at icddr,b to generate novel research question and formulate sound research design in order to develop high-quality research proposal in different area of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

  • To establish a consortium of experts of NCD researcher for mentoring young researchers for handling large database, conducting advance analyses and publish research evidence for dissemination broadly. 

  • To develop a standardized common set of measures including addition of new objectives and identification of data source at different institutions, so that prospective PhD candidates can access to essential data for conducting research and other academic purposes.
